Karen Hendy is a visual artist, who works in Stradbally. She is a graduate from the National College of Art and Design and she also studied at the Burren College of Art.. Her style can be described as in between figurative and abstract. She uses materials such as charcoal, pencil, inks, acrylic paint and oils. Her creation process is very physical and involves tearing, pulling, scraping, scratching and mark making. Some of the themes in her work are inter-human relationships, spirituality, emotions like fear, pleasure and aggression and nature in all its forms and beauty. Karen exhibited in the Royal Ulster Academy in 2007 and has recently completed a residency in the Cill Rialaig Arts Project in Co. Kerry. |
